Summary:
Letters from Iwo Jima is the second film about the bloody battle during the second World War directed by Clint Eastwood. This film tells the Japanese side of the story from the point of the Japanese commander of the defense of the island as well as from a common soldier on the Japanese side. The film begins with the preparation for the defense and ends with the complete occupation by the United States.

Why You Should See This Movie:
Letters from Iwo Jima is an incredible depiction of the horrific events from the battle. Separating itself from Flags of our Fathers, this movie has a lot of emotional power, gained at least in part by the intensity of the war scenes. Focusing very well on a few characters, the emotion and feelings of the main characters comes through clearly. The directing, as expected, is impeccable and the camera work stunning. It is sometimes difficult to note great acting through subtitles, but in this case, the two main characters plainly do incredible work.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
My only complaint with the film is the slow first hour, which tells needed back story, but probably could have but cut back a bit in order to make this great film into an oscar winning film.

Conclusion:
Letters from Iwo Jima is an incredible film that certainly should be seen by those interested in the topic, as well as anyone interested in watching a masterful director put together a very good story.
