Summary:
300 is the story of a very small group of Spartan (Ancient Greek) soldiers and their valiant attempts to stave off the invading Persian army estimated at over 2 million strong. King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) inspires his ferocious army to fight to the bitter end despite their certain death in the face of such overwhelming odds. Meanwhile at home, Leonidas' wife (Lena Headey) pleads before the council of Sparta to send the rest of the army to aid her king in an attempt to keep Greece a free and undominated territory.

Why You Should See This Movie:
Zack Snyder so incredibly brings this powerful story to the screen in such unique ways, that I can honestly say that I have not seen a film in quite a long time that was more entertaining. The power and emotion of the film starts off very strong and does not let up even through the final credits. Butler and Headey are incredible in their roles and the supporting cast does exactly what they are supposed to. The unique filming (similar to Sin City from 2005) fits this incredible story perfectly allowing the raw power of the story to be communicated across the screen in ways I have not seen since Lord of the Rings. The sound effects were so powerful at times, that I literally felt my seat move and my chest vibrate. The visual effects were also captivating as both the soldiers and their amazing physiques as well as the ferocious battle scenes were amazing.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
This film is most definitely rated R as the violence is as real as it should have been, so if you are opposed to the rating, you should stay away. However, if you were ever to forget the MPAA's opinion regarding movies and watch an R rated film, this is the one to see.

Conclusion:
300 is a filming masterpiece with absolutely captivating visual and sound effects, powerfully emotional acting and a story worth cheering out loud for.
