Review:

Summary:
Capote is the story about the writing of the influential novel written in the 1960's, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Phillip Seymour Hofmann). The book, about the brutal killings of a family in Kansas, was one that changed the face of literature and launched Truman into superstardom.

Why You Should See This Movie:
Phillip Seymour Hofmann is virtually a lock for Best Actor this year because of his performance. I actually felt as though Russell Crowe was more impressive in Cinderella Man, but the rest of the world does not. Hofmann gives quite an impressive performance that is both filled with emotion and an impressive impersonation of the strange speaking author. Hofmann's surrounding cast is decent, but the movie really belongs to him. The film starts and ends very well, but seemed to drag quite a bit in the middle section as the relationship between Capote and the murderers is established. The story presented is fairly intriguing and the director did an impressive job at setting the tone well with great camera shots and sound effects.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
Capote is a fairly slow, methodical character study that could put you to sleep if you are not interested in the subject matter.

Conclusion:
Capote is an impressive film that deserved it's nomination for Best Picture as well as Best Actor for Hofmann, although didnt seem to reach the level of films like Crash and Cinderella Man.
