Summary:
Brokeback Mountain is the controversial film about two cowboys in Wyoming that spend a summer working together and end up forging a romantic relationship that lingers through their entire life. The two (Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger) attempt to stifle their feelings and lead normal (heterosexual) lives but go on "fishing trips" often in order to keep their relationship going. The difficulty of keeping their relationship secret but passionate drives them both to the brink of breakdown.

Why You Should See This Movie:
This film truly attempts to break new ground in terms of social acceptance and does a pretty good job. The story is a decent one, but more than the fact that the script is good is the idea that such a story could be told on the big screen. The cinemetography is pretty great with sweeping shots of the American West and the amazing mountains in which the story takes place. Ledger and Gyllenhaal do a great job at tackling acting performances that were probably not very easy to do.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
With all of the hype going into this film, I was dissapointed in some aspects. I didnt quite buy into the relationship that Ang Lee was attempting to present. Perhaps because of Ledger's lack of real emotion, I didnt quite believe that the two felt an unbreakable connection to each other. There was nothing really bad about this film, it just wasnt what all the hype wanted it to be.

Conclusion:
Brokeback Mountain is a good movie that breaks down social barriers and attempts to bring a story to mainstream America that normally is shunned.
