Summary:
The Alamo (2004) is Hollywood?s latest attempt at the recreation of the famous American battle in which the Mexican army led by General Santa Anna completely destroyed the defenders of the Texas mission. This film rather quickly gets into the story of the siege and intersperses the action sequences with conversations between the famous participants such as Davy Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton), Jim Bowie (Jason Patric) and Sam Houston (Dennis Quaid). The film concludes with the American response to the slaughter and the defeat of Santa Anna?s army.

Why You Should See This Movie:
If you are a history buff, or enjoy westerns, this film will interest you. The acting by all involved is decent but not oscar worthy, the effects are effective in terms of music and filming and the story is told well. The film is pretty entertaining and keeps you interested if you enjoy the above genres.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
There wasn?t anything horrible about this film, other than the disappointment in my opinion. A movie made in this day and age about one of the more famous events in American history should have been incredible and probably oscar worthy, but this film didn?t quite get there. It had a lot of good points, but didn?t do anything really well.

Conclusion:
The Alamo is a mildly entertaining western that retells the story of the Alamo effectively, yet doesn?t quite satisfy the expectations of those interested in the historical event.
