Summary:
Citizen Kane is a story about one of the richest men in the world who is the owner of a powerful newspaper. Orson Welles plays Mr. Kane who dies at the beginning of the film, making the rest of the movie partially a story about the rise of Mr. Kane and partially about the investigation into his death. As he is dying, he says the word Rosebud, which is the focus of the investigation of his death.
Why You Should See This Movie:
I think the best reason for you to see this film is to experience what a lot of people think is the best movie of all time. The acting is pretty impressive in parts and the filming effects were probably ahead of their time, but compared to today?s standards, they are nothing too impressive.
Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
In spite of the incredible critical praise for this film, when it all comes down to it, the movie is incredibly boring. The movie starts off with a decent catch but wanders through so many boring scenes that it loses all momentum. The end is such a let down as well that you leave the film with a bad taste in your mouth.
Conclusion:
Citizen Kane is an incredibly overrated film that has some good points, but does not live up to the best film of all time label.
