Summary:
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is the sequel to the wildly popular film of three years ago, this time chronicling the exploits of Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swan (Keira Knightley). In this movie, Jack is approached by Davey Jones to repay a debt that gives Jones his soul. Jack of course objects and enlists the help of Turner and Swan to find the Dead Men's Chest in order to save himself.

Why You Should See This Movie:
If you loved the first Pirates film, this one is more of the same, with great acting by Johnny Depp reprising his hilarious and impressive role of Jack Sparrow. The action scenes are also very interesting and fun to watch, making this film worth seeing in the theater especially if you enjoyed the first.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
At well over 2 hours in length, and a lack of interesting plot turns, this film really suffered from a lack of editing. Movies that are more than two hours need to have a great plot that is constantly moving, otherwise falling asleep is much more appealing. My other problem with the film was the lack of screen time for Johnny Depp. Anyone not admitting that this film gets all of it's interest and power from his character is kidding themselves and thus, having him on screen often is critical. With him only in the film maybe half of the time, the movie loses a lot of momentum.

Conclusion:
Pirates of the Caribbean is a good movie worth seeing in the theater, but suffers from a typical sequel syndrome in that planning a second movie after the success of a first, usually ends up looking and feeling like extra material that really just doesn't belong.
