Summary:
Ray is a biographical film about the music legend Ray Charles. The film tells the story of his ascension to stardom alongside his incredibly painful and traumatic childhood experience. The film tells how Ray was not only a powerful cultural icon, but also a drug user and a womanizer.

Why You Should See This Movie:
Ray is an absolutely incredible film. By far, the most impressive part of the film is the stunning acting performance given by Jamie Foxx. He is so convincing as Ray Charles, that I often literally forgot the character was not Mr. Charles. Not only is his acting convincing, but his singing performance is also dead on. The film is very entertaining due to Foxx?s performance, but also due to Taylor Hackford?s brilliant direction cutting back and forth between Charles? entertainment career and his childhood. The story was put together very well and told and incredibly powerful message.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
There is no reason you shouldn?t see this film, unless the drug use and mature sexual themes bother you, although my one critique was that it was a bit too long. If some scenes towards the end could have been shaved, the running time could have been more manageable.

Conclusion:
Ray is an absolutely stunning film with by far the best acting performance of the year as well as brilliant directing and a powerfully emotional story.
