Summary:
Closer is a dramatic film focusing on relationships and how intricate and deceitful love can be. Natalie Portman plays a wild, flirtatious young American visiting London who at the beginning of the film is hit by a car and rescued by Dan (Jude Law) who is a relatively normal journalist who lives in England. Dan meets Anna (Julia Roberts) during a photo shoot for his book and becomes instantly enamored with her. Through a bizarre set up, Larry (Clive Owen) meets Anna and after a short courtship are married. The four characters embark on a tangled and interesting journey that leaves them all changed in some way.

Why You Should See This Movie:
I really enjoyed this film and its brutal honesty, but I could see how some people would be offended. The casting of the four characters was great, and all four did a fabulous job at creating their own unique characters. The film starts a bit slow, but as the lives of the two couples become more complicated, the film builds momentum to the point that you wonder if it will end or continue on indefinitely. Mike Nichols did a great job at making each scene powerful and almost like a mini movie. The story was very convoluted and honest and although it seemed a bit of a stretch at times, it may be more real than I could imagine.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
As mentioned above, if you are bothered by sexual themes and language, you will be very offended by this film and likely not make it through the first half hour. If , however, you are open minded and difficult to offend, you will likely enjoy or at least appreciate the honesty and boldness.

Conclusion:
Closer is a brutally honest film about relationships and the deceit and pain that can be evolved when love goes wrong.
