Summary:
Collateral is a film about Vincent (Tom Cruise) an assassin who meets up with Max (Jamie Foxx) a cab driver who unwillingly delivers Vincent to his six victims one evening. Jada Pinkett Smith plays Annie, a lawyer Max meets just before picking up Vincent.

Why You Should See This Movie:
The acting in the film was pretty good, with Cruise and Foxx taking up by far the majority of the screen time. The pair interacted well and created a believable relationship, although nothing good enough to warrant any awards. This movie was pretty artsy and actually did a pretty good job at creating the intended feel with camera angles, sound, and the use of seemingly insignificant objects.

Why You Shouldn't See This Movie:
It was difficult to tell if the filmmakers were going for an action movie, suspense/thriller movie or an art movie. It almost seemed like they were going for all three and missed on all accounts. The pace from the beginning wasn?t quick enough to be an effective action movie, and the art component was only mildly effective. The transitions were also long and seemed to add nothing to the film other than length, which was unnecessary as the movie clocked in at 2 hours and 6 minutes. The plot was also fairly predictable and did nothing to make you think too much. The theatrical trailer pretty much sums up the entire plot with no surprises along the way. The movie was pretty dark and violent and is not fit for young kids or people offended by frivolous killing and violence.

Conclusion:
Collateral was a decent movie that would be just as effective at home as on the big screen and probably is not worth the ticket price to see in the theater.
