Review: By Ute Summary: X2 is the sequel to X-Men and continues the story of the mutants and their fight against humans for equality and freedom. This movie starts where the first left off and introduces a new bad guy ? Col. William Stryker, a military leader who is attempting to clone the mutant's super powerful cerebro in order to destroy the mutant race. The same characters return and use their unique powers to battle the new enemy, and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) begins to understand his past as it intertwines with Col. Stryker. Why You Should See This Movie: Your enjoyment of this film is really dependent on whether or not you saw the first. If you did and enjoyed it, X2 is more of the same with some added improvements. If you didn't like the first film, you more than likely wont the second as well. The acting is similar to the first and has some great new characters as well as some memorable and well placed lines. The film is very entertaining if you are into the comic book genre as it combines action and plot without slowing to a boring pace. The special effects are better than the first mostly due to the passing of time and improvement of technology. The story is probably a bit better than the first movie, as the first had to introduce the characters and the plot of the comic book. Why You Shouldn't See This Movie: As mentioned above, if you didn't enjoy the first film, don't bother with this one. Also, you will probably enjoy this film more if you watch the first before viewing the sequel. Conclusion: X2 is a successful sequel to X-Men with improved effects and the addition of great unique new characters. |
